You can create a stock item that is made up of individual stock item components.
Overview
You can set up a Bill of Materials that is a Stock Item composed of individual stock items. The Stock Items are then physically put together so the resulting item can be bought as a single unit by your customers. You can select the main stock item for Sales Orders. As the Quantity of the Main item changes from Sales Orders, the quantities of the individual components are also updated, so your stock count is up to date.
What's the difference between a Bill of Materials and a Kit?
A Bill of Materials is a single Stock Item that you can sell to your customers, e.g. a lamp that is composed of several individual Stock Items that you have purchased from your suppliers. For example, you might purchase a stand, a bulb and some wiring from your suppliers. You then manufacture the lamp out of those parts and sell them as one item - the complete lamp - rather than selling the individual components.
A Kit is a collection or pack of several Stock items that are commonly sold together. For example, you might sell a sink kit which is comprised of a sink, the pipes for the sink and a plug. These items are sold together but not combined into one item.
